She is a qualified chartered accountant with more than fifteen years post qualification experience. She has professional experience in financial management and control, corporate governance, audit, commercial engagement and stakeholder management. She also chairs the advisory board of the Rhodes Business School and serves on the board of governors of Rhodes University.

Imogen's professional career spans a number of industries including mining, financial services, manufacturing, information technology and telecommunications. She spent the early years of her career with Anglo American and Infogold as an Information systems Analyst.
